This month we are spotlighting a woman who worked her way to the top spot running one of the most successful entertainment and convention facilities in the nation.
Sandy Dunn is known as a legend in the arena industry and is considered one of the most influential people in the Central Massachusetts economy. Her leadership and determination have kept DCU Center and Worcester competitive with so many other arenas and meeting spaces in the state and across Southern New England.
Her typical day focuses on booking events for the DCU Center on days when its main tenants, the Worcester Railers, aren't playing hockey. She spends much of her time working with ASM Global, the international arena and convention center operator she works for, and any of the DCU Center's five unions where she is known as a fierce negotiator.
Sandy was only in her mid-20s when she started her career at the DCU center as their receptionist in 1983. Her personal story and experiences are sure to captivate you. From overcoming obstacles and challenges to seizing opportunities and achieving success, she has truly seen it all. And if we?re lucky, she may even share a sordid story about her first interview for a position at the DCU center.
