How to Unlock the Full Power of Women Entrepreneurs
Despite the incredible skill of women business owners, we still see an entrepreneurial gender gap in this country. Women launch fewer companies than men, and overall those businesses have access to less startup capital, make less revenue, and employ fewer people. Addressing this gender gap, and eliminating the roadblocks women entrepreneurs frequently face, would bring benefits for all of us--more innovation, more jobs--and will be crucial for our post-pandemic recovery. All of us have a role in making this happen.
Join us to:
• Learn ways to increase women’s access to startup capital
• Hear what women entrepreneurs do (and don’t) need from their mentors and sponsors
• Discover how to inspire young girls to consider an entrepreneurial path
• Understand the power of your consumer choices and your voice to support women-owned businesses
Speaker:
Susanne Althoff is the author of the new book LAUNCHING WHILE FEMALE: Smashing the System That Holds Women Entrepreneurs Back, which is based on interviews with more than 100 women and nonbinary entrepreneurs across the country. She is an assistant professor at Emerson College in Boston, where she teaches publishing entrepreneurship and women’s media. She’s also served as an adviser to women-led startups. Before joining Emerson in 2015, Althoff worked for 22 years as a magazine editor, including six years as the editor-in-chief of The Boston Globe Magazine.
